JRfH Wrap Up

Dear Madrona Families,

I wanted to thank everyone who participated in Jump Rope/Hoops for Heart. We had almost 150 kids in the gym for the event and it was such a blast! It’s been a great month learning about how to be heart healthy by exercising for 60 minutes a day, eating lots of fruits and veggies, blasting sodium out of our diets, avoiding all forms of tobacco, and by drinking cool, refreshing water instead of sugary drinks.

I also want to let you know that we raised a grand total of $10,182.82 for the American Heart Association! We were the number one school in the Edmonds School District! Wow, great job Madrona Heart Heroes! This money will be used for life-saving research to fight heart disease. We also earned a $500 gift certificate for new P.E. equipment! Congratulations to Hugh from Miss Lim’s kindergarten class, Oliver from Ohana, and Gideon from Summit for being our top fundraisers at each level. Thank you for all of your help! The thank you gift order has been submitted and should be arriving in 3-4 weeks.

We are already looking forward to next year and ways to make Jump Rope/Hoops for Heart even bigger and better! If you are interested in being involved, please email Mr. Barnes so he can set up a contact list. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this a record-breaking event at Madrona!
