SCRIP NEWS
HOLIDAY SCRIP CONTEST!!
The scrip table will be having a holiday contest beginning the week of December 3rd and running through December 17th. For every order you place, you will get to pick candy, gift card holder, or $10 worth of scrip. There will be a total of $200.00 worth of scrip giving away, so lots of chances to win. Everyone is a winner!!
Do you need ideas for the gift giving season? If so, gift cards from the Madrona Scrip Program are the perfect gift - always the right price, size, and color! We carry a large selection of vendors including movie theaters, Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, Jamba Juice, grocery stores, a good choice of retail stores, and many restaurants. The scrip table will be open every morning until Winter Break for your holiday shopping! Place your order by Monday, Dec. 17th for all non-inventory items. The scrip table will be open until Friday, Dec. 21st for your last minute gift cards; however, remember to shop for the best selection! Contact Linda Park at (425) 672-9485 if you have any questions.

HOLIDAY GIVING TREE!
The Giving Tree is here and ready to be "discovered" in the family room! The Giving Tree is Madrona's program of providing holiday gifts to families in need from our community. This year we are again sponsoring families from Madrona, Woodway, and College Place. Last year we delivered gifts for over 65 people and anticipate closer to 90 this year. We will be collecting the gifts on Thursday morning, Dec. 13th for delivery that afternoon. Everyone can be a part of this program, so please stop by the family room and pick a tag and join in the fun! Thank you. THERE ARE STILL A FEW TAGS LEFT!!!
CONGRATULATIONS SHARANN POLLOCK!
Sharann Pollock, our middle school learning support/language arts teacher, recently received her National Board Certification! This is currently the highest form of certification a teacher can achieve. It requires a rigorous demonstration of teaching excellence which is evaluated by a national panel of experts. We are proud of Sharann’s accomplishment!
NO VOICEMAIL OVER HOLIDAY
Due to a new phone system being installed District wide over the winter break, voice messages may not be received! The system will not be reliable from December 22nd through January 6th. Thank you! Lynda
LOST AND FOUND - ATTENTION PARENTS
Please come pick up your children’s lost coats, hats, gloves etc from our lost and found. It’s overflowing again! You will find the lost and found in the Cafeteria. Everything is hung up and easy to find! Is anyone missing a sleeping bag from Middle School Camp? We have it! Also, if you put your child’s name in their coat it will be returned to them. Please check out lost and found before it gets donated to charity! Thanks!
ATTRIBUTE OF THE MONTH:SERVICE
MADRONA'S CAMP FIRE CLUB
TAKING DONATIONS FOR FLOOD VICTIMS
The Camp Fire Club at Madrona is currently working on their Put Love Into Giving project. The boys, all first graders, have decided they would like to help collect food, new or gently used clothing, pet supplies, baby goods, toys, etc... to donate to the families in Washington and Oregon that have been impacted by the recent flooding. Any donations are greatly appreciated and can be turned in to the Camp Fire box in the Family Room. We will stop taking donations on Thursday, December 20th in order to make sure the items reach families by Christmas.
TRIBES DAY
Madrona will be having its Tribes Day on the Afternoon of December 20th at 1:45 in the gym. It will end about 3:15. All parents are welcome and encouraged to participate! Parents can contact Craig Baldwin if you want to get matched up with a tribe.
CONGRATULATIONS ELLE!
Elle McGlocklin, an 8th year student in Madrona Media, wins Week Two of the Photo Contest with her entry that's now posted on the homepage of the Madrona Bear Facts Web site. Her photo will be considered for the grand prize. Get your entries in for the Week Three competition (deadline is Dec. 14). The grand prize winner will be revealed Dec. 21 and will remain on the home page through winter break for ultimate bragging rights! Show us what "Service" means to you. Submit your photo today by emailing it to contest@madronabearfacts.com.
SAFETY REMINDERS
Please remember to wear your ID badges at all times when you are on school grounds. If you do not yet have a permanent badge, stickers are available in the Office. We will have the badge machine soon, and will let you know when we can begin making badges again.
A PARKING LOT NOTE
Many cars with handicap placards have been pulling into the bus area in the morning. If you, the driver, are coming into the building you may come into the north lot. If you are dropping off a non-handicapped student, please use the main parking lot only!
Please respect the parking lot safety procedures. There should never be a time when anybody needs to slam on their brakes coming into or leaving the school. There is a great summary of the parking lot guidelines in this month’s Bear Facts newsletter.
RIDING THE BUS HOME WITH A FRIEND
This is a reminder to parents that you must write a note to allow students to ride another bus home and that the note, written by the parent, then must be signed by the office and then given to the bus driver. Thanks!
REDECORATING IN TIME FOR THE HOLIDAYS?
The school library is interested in establishing a middle school reading area, and would love donations of gently-used couches, armchairs and a coffee table. Please call Ann DeVight at 431-2904 to discus her vision and help out!
CONGRATULATIONS HANNAH AND GRACE!
Hannah Burson and Grace DeMun are Madrona’s first musicians to be accepted into the All-State Middle School Band. Great Job!
