SCRIP NEWS
HOLIDAY SCRIP CONTEST!!
The scrip table will be having a holiday contest beginning the week of December 3rd and running through December 17th. For every order you place, you will get to pick candy, gift card holder, or $10 worth of scrip. There will be a total of $200.00 worth of scrip giving away, so lots of chances to win. Everyone is a winner!
Do you need ideas for the gift giving season? If so, gift cards from the Madrona Scrip Program are the perfect gift - always the right price, size, and color! We carry a large selection of vendors including movie theaters, Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, Jamba Juice, grocery stores, a good choice of retail stores, and many restaurants. The scrip table will be open every morning until Winter Break for your holiday shopping! Place your order by Monday, Dec. 17th for all non-inventory items. The scrip table will be open until Friday, Dec. 21st for your last minute gift cards; however, remember to shop for the best selection! Contact Linda Park at (425) 672-9485 if you have any questions.
HOLIDAY GIVING TREE!
The Giving Tree is here and ready to be "discovered" in the family room! The Giving Tree is Madrona's program of providing holiday gifts to families in need from our community. This year we are again sponsoring families from Madrona, Woodway, and College Place. Last year we delivered gifts for over 65 people and anticipate closer to 90 this year. We will be collecting the gifts on Thursday morning, Dec. 13th for delivery that afternoon. Everyone can be a part of this program, so please stop by the family room and pick a tag and join in the fun! Thank you. THERE ARE A FEW TAGS LEFT!!
CONGRATULATIONS ANABELLA!
Anabella King, a fourth grader in Renaissance Center, wins Week One of the Bear Facts Web site Photo Contest with her entry "Helping Hands." Her photo will be considered for the grand prize. Get your entries in for the Week Two competition (deadline is Dec. 7). There was not a class room winner for week one. Teachers and parent volunteers can go to www.madronabearfacts.com to read up on how to get involved. Remember, the grand prize winners will be revealed Dec. 21 and will remain on the home page through winter break for ultimate bragging rights! Submit your photo today.
LOST AND FOUND-ATTENTION PARENTS
Please come pick up your children’s lost coats, hats, gloves etc from our lost and found. It’s overflowing again! You will find the lost and found in the Cafeteria. Everything is hung up and easy to find! Is anyone missing a sleeping bag from Middle School Camp? We have it! Also, if you put your child’s name in their coat it will be returned to them. Please check out lost and found before it gets donated to charity! Thanks!
STARBUCKS & MIDDLE SCHOOL TOY DRIVE FOR STARLIGHT STARBRIGHT FOUNDATION
The Middle School has teamed up with Starbucks to collect toys for the Starlight Starbright foundation. Each advisory will be collecting toys between Dec. 3rd and Dec. 14th. Starbucks will be rewarding them with a hot cocoa party at the end of the toy drive. Good luck and have fun! Because of Madrona’s hard work last year, Downtown Edmonds Starbucks was #1 in the toy drive out of 100 stores!!!GREAT JOB MIDDLE SCHOOL!
ENRICHMENT UPDATE
As of 9:15 am Monday December 3rd, Indoor Soccer and Art Daze classes are full. There is a full waiting list for Art Daze as well. All other classes are still available as well as classes provided by paid vendors (i.e. Mad Science, Explorer Language)
Thanks to all the parents who were able to walk in and register. As stated on the form, early enrollments were not retrieved from the box until after walk in registrations were taken. I’ve heard comments and emails from many parents that they feel it’s unfair to have a "race" registration. This method is similar to team sports registration and overcomes the problems with registrations that are lost or misplaced by the kids tasked to put them in the box. As the chair of enrichment, I am always open to hear suggestions on registration procedures. I welcome all volunteers who wish to either instruct or take part in the enrichment committee. Lisa Miller
TRIBES DAY
Madrona will be having its Tribes Day on the Afternoon of December 20th. All parents are welcome and encouraged to participate! More detailed information in next weeks notes!
SAFETY REMINDERS
Please remember to wear your ID badges at all times when you are on school grounds. If you do not yet have a permanent badge, stickers are available in the Office. We will have the badge machine soon, and will let you know when we can begin making badges again.
Please respect the parking lot safety procedures. There should never be a time when anybody needs to slam on their brakes coming into or leaving the school. There is a great summary of the parking lot guidelines in this month’s Bear Facts newsletter.
