Don’t miss Family night, Tuesday, March 25th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM in Madrona’s library or stop by the library during the week in the morning from 8:30 - 9:30 AM, at lunch from 11:00 AM - 1:30 PM, or after school from 3:30 - 4:30 PM. Please note that the fair will close on Friday, March 28th at 2PM - there will be no after school sales that day. Thank you for supporting our wonderful school library! DEAF AWARENESS WEEK MARCH 24TH TO 28TH

Next week is Deaf Awareness week at Madrona! There are many fun things going on, like buttons for everyone. If a student gets caught wearing their button during the week they will get a prize. Deaf Trivia is back. There will posters displayed in the lunch room that feature famous deaf people. Daily trivia questions will be posted for each level. The answers can be left in a box in front of room 14. The winners get to choose from a prize box. There will be a deaf dance team assembly Thursday at 1:30. The group is traveling from Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. There will also be various activities throughout the week related to deafness within the classrooms.

MUTUAL UNDERSTANING AND COMPASSIONATE COMMUNICATION BOOK STUDY GROUP

Spring is just around the corner! Plan for Spring yard cleanup! Don't forget to buy gift cards to get your yard in order. We carry Home Depot, Lowe's Hardware, Sky Nursery (and Pizza Hut, Applebee's, Azteca, Burger King, Olive Garden, Red Robin, Subway, just to name a few, so you don't have to cook after a long day of yard work!) Stop by the scrip table outside the office or drop your order form off in the office. It's very easy!

SEUSSICAL RAFFLE PREVIEW

One of two “Cat in the Hat Goes to Town” gift baskets, each valued at over $400, is on display in front of the Office. It includes a night at the Westin Hotel, 2 tickets to ACT or Seattle Rep and much much more. Raffle tickets for the basket can be purchased each day up to Opening Night, Thursday, March 20th. Price: $5 per ticket or 3 for $10. You do not have to be at the play to win. Winning tickets for 2 baskets will be drawn at the 5:30 performance on Saturday, March 22nd. The play will be ASL interpreted on March 21st and at the 12:00 pm performance on March 22nd

BUY ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS FOR NEW KINDERGARTEN PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT

Due to a change in safety regulations, we need to purchase new playground equipment for the play area between buildings 2 and 3. INTERNET SAFETY PRESENTATION

April 8th, Tuesday-7:00 – 9:00 PM-Madrona Library-Detective Lee Malkow from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Department is returning to Madrona to discuss the Internet. Those of you who attended our meeting about sex offenders will remember Detective Malkow. She talked briefly about the Internet and how to keep our children safe, and graciously agreed to return to give a more in depth presentation. Detective Malkow will be discussing the following:

• Internet Statistics
• How easy it is to target kids on-line
• Practical safety tips
• MySpace, Face Book etc.

In addition, Detective Malkow will give an on-line interactive presentation of what goes on out in the wide world of the Internet. This presentation is graphic, so we cannot have children present. Please let me know if you need childcare, and we will arrange to have childcare available. I hope many Madrona parents can attend this most important and powerful presentation. Regardless of what grade your child/children are in; the information shared will be of benefit to you. Please let me know if you have any questions.

This a call to all parents/educators interested in facilitating an enrichment class after spring break. Current Instructors: if you are interested in teaching your class again after the break, please let us know.
