School Information

Madrona K-8 is a multi-age school in which relationships and personal potential are priorities. (See Madrona's behavior management plan, including the "Attributes of Character.")

What Makes Madrona Unique?

Our Mission

The world our children inherit - the opportunities they have, the dreams they live - depends upon the education we provide them. Our vision becomes their reality. To ensure this vision, each child must be given the best educational foundation that our staff, parents and community can offer.

Our Vision

We are a community of individuals who celebrate the growth and unfolding of each member. We value the relationships in which we are revealed, and in turn, each member's development enriches the community.

Madrona Attributes of Character

The Madrona community of students, staff and parents jointly selected the following attributes of character and citizenship as important to our community. These attributes further develop the key values of respect and responsibility. Each month we focus on an attribute and invite families to join the conversation at home. Of special importance is noticing and affirming these attributes in our children as we see them in action.

General Behavior Expectations

Language and actions will be respectful of self, others and property.

All communications (oral, signed, written and electronic) will be respectful of self, others and the Madrona community.

Weapons, real and toy, will not be tolerated. School Board policy specifically requires the immediate expulsion of any student who carries a gun on campus. This policy extends this responsibility to include even toy guns when they are brought to school.

Walking will be the means of travel in and around the buildings. (Running is fine on the grassy area of the playground.)

Dress will be modest and free of offensive sayings and pictures.

  • No short shorts, fingertip length preferred
  • No spaghetti straps, halter tops or bare midriffs
  • Tank tops with oversized armholes are worn with a shirt underneath
  • Pants may not "sag" and reveal undergarments
  • Shoes worn should be safe for school activities.

Gum will not be brought to school or chewed there.

Hands, feet and implements will be kept off of wall surfaces.

Litter will be thrown in garbage containers.

Citizens will arrive and leave school in a safe and respectful manner. They will exhibit responsible behavior, which contributes to the safety of all.

Students will follow the Madrona Electronics Policies Plan:

  • CD players, iPods, video games or other electronic devices will be left at home.
  • Cell phones may only be used before or after school and are to be kept in student bags or lockers.
