STEM is short for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. STEM is an important part of our school. The STEM Committee hopes to provide several opportunities for all our students to experience science, technology, engineering and math in meaningful ways.
Some of the opportunities include:
- STEM Night: Wednesday March 29th from 6-8pm in the gym – A fun family event in the evening that will include special presentations and hands-on learning experiences for all ages. View Flyer
- STEM Club – Contact Michele Fellows for more information.
Our mission is to improve learning for students by providing a dedicated time for exploring science, technology, engineering, and math in detail. This year we will be offering enrichment classes after school on Thursdays. Through hands on projects, students will gain a thorough understanding of STEM basics. We will use this knowledge to develop an experiment or design project which they can then share with the group and at Madrona STEM Night. Most, if not all, projects would then be entered for STEM Expo, increasing Madrona’s presence at this district-wide event. Last year we had three displays. The topics were black holes, vortex generator (air cannon), and bots.Session 1 Topics
