PUMPKIN-CARVING CONTEST

Dressing up not your thing? Maybe you’re more of a pumpkin artisan! This year’s Pumpkin-Carving Contest will take place IN PERSON at Bear Scare — bring your amazingly crafted gourd to Bear Scare for your chance to win!

Prizes will be awarded to winners and runners-up in kindergarten, primary and intermediate, and to the overall winner in middle school. Each pumpkin artist must bring their own battery-powered tea light, as proper pumpkin lighting is essential for any wannabe pumpkin champion. Students are limited to one entry per student.

Register your carved (or decorated) pumpkin between 5:50 and 6:20 p.m. at Jack-O-Lantern Alley, located in the courtyard during Bear Scare. Be on time, as voting (by Bear Scare attendees) will begin right at 6:20, when the last pumpkin is registered — the sooner your pumpkin arrives, the more votes it can receive! Voting ends at 7:30, at which point the votes will be tallied and winners announced in the gym. Don’t forget to take your pumpkin with you at the end of the night!

Finally … are you interested in hosting future pumpkin-carving contests? Our longtime pumpkin guru, Steve Engel, has just one more year left at Madrona, and would love to help ensure a smooth transition in 2024! Contact steve-engel@comcast.net to job shadow and/or learn more.
