What is MIT?
- Madrona Integrated Team (MIT) is a non-profit, charitable corporation whose purpose is to support and enhance the experience of Madrona School students by sponsoring educational and related family programs, as well as enrichment activities for our students. It is similar to a PTA, but operates as its own non-profit and is not affiliated with the PTA. There is no fee to join; all Madrona students, staff, teachers and parents are automatically members. MIT is run by an elected volunteer board of directors and is responsible for raising money for use in the classrooms and throughout school as well as for creating a community through events. Please watch for meeting dates and times to be announced.
Am I required to volunteer?
- No. You are not required to volunteer at Madrona. However, none of our events would be possible without volunteers.
What volunteer opportunities are there at Madrona?
- A list of all of our volunteer opportunities may be found here on our volunteer information page
How am I supposed to volunteer if I work every day?
- We have volunteer opportunities throughout the year that are after work hours or may even be done from home. Here are a few examples:
- 30 minute shift at a table at Bear Scare, Steam Night, or Art Walk
- Help setup or cleanup our nighttime events
- Work given by a teacher to do at home
- Grant Reviewer. Done 3 times a year at your own pace from home
- Community Nights Coordinator. Setup events with places like Mod Pizza or Qdoba a few times a year to encourage a community night out
- Bake a pie for the Pi Day Staff Lunch
What is the MIT Scholarship?
- The scholarship for class fees exists to provide assistance for the supply fee of your student, one ticket to Bear Scare, one enrichment class per year, two tickets to a Madrona Children’s Theatre show, field trip fees, and one yearbook & one pen. This is kept private and is made possible by our Madrona Community.
