Madrona Kids Fund

Madrona Integrated Team (MIT) is kicking off the annual fundraising ask, referred to as the Madrona Kids Fund (MKF).

MKF provides financial support for many programs at Madrona, including the Madrona Children’s Theater, the music program, Bear Scare, and basic supplies, as well as special requests from our teachers!

In your children’s backpacks last week (or coming soon), you should find green envelopes and donation forms that have been distributed by their teachers. Our goal this year is to raise an average of $65 per student, to cover our yearly budgetary need. We understand that the capacity to give varies, and whether you can donate $5 or $500, anything is greatly appreciated!

In addition to cash and check options, please note the convenience of donating via PayPal by visiting https://www.madronabearfacts.com/fundraising/mkf/. You can make a one-time donation, or subscribe to monthly donations, which are incredibly helpful, and make it easier for many of us by distributing our contribution over the course of the year.

Also, please look into whether your employer offers matching charitable donations. It’s a wonderful way to increase the benefit to our school!

As is common with traditional, purchase-based fundraising drives, we ask that you consider spreading the word to your extended community, such as your broader family and friend circles.

Please have your children return their green envelopes to their teachers, even if they are empty! Awareness and participation are foundational aspects of a successful drive, and any center with a 100% return rate will earn a popcorn party in appreciation.

The final day for donations is Saturday, November 4th, with the last collection of envelopes from the classrooms taking place on Monday, November 6th. Final fundraising results will be announced soon afterward.

We will follow up periodically with reminders to all of you via the MIT Facebook group, ParentSquare, MadronaBearFacts.com, and MIT emails.

Thank you so much in advance for helping us make this fundraising drive a success for all of us in the Madrona community!

Conference Week Enrichment

The Floorball Camp during conference week is full Monday-Thursday, Oct 23-26.   While there are still openings on Friday, Oct 27, it looks as though the camp may be cancelled on this day because we have no adult volunteers scheduled. There are still two more days to sign up to volunteer (and register your child) for Friday, Oct 27.

Email Submission

We are working to streamline the communication from MIT.  If you have an article you’d like to have included in our weekly email, please email your blurb to Molly at MITParentChair@gmail.com by Saturday at noon to be included in the following week’s email.  If you’d like the article to be included for multiple weeks (for example, a signup genius for volunteer opportunities) please include that information.  We are working to update the website to make submissions for the weekly email an option.  Thanks.

Volunteer Paperwork

Have you filled out your volunteer paperwork yet?  All volunteers must be cleared by Edmonds School District before volunteering in any capacity at Madrona.  It is a quick process, but please allow up to two weeks for notification from the district about clearance.  All volunteers must have either an ID badge or sticker from the office visible while on campus.  Paperwork can be found here: https://www.edmonds.wednet.edu/community/volunteer  Unsure if you’re volunteer status is still good?  Please contact the Educational Services Center communications@edmonds.wednet.edu
